ButRigas Z. was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Ventspils 90-81 on Saturday night. Strangely Rigas Z. outrebounded Ventspils 39-27 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Cameron Shelton (188-1999, college: LMU) nailed 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Arturs Ausejs (192-1990) accounted for 14 points and 4 assists. Four Ventspils players scored in double figures. Forward Janis Berzins (201-1993) came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Emils Krumins (185-2001) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Rigas Z. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
